 Quick Start TutorialSection III Step 4: Testing the Proxy Rule
With the Proxy Rule defined in the previous step, next time when
Client A (or JOHN-PC) tries to reach Resource R at 10.2.3.4 the
request will be routed through the Proxy Agent running on Client B (or AMY-PC).
Let's verify this is the case.
To begin with our test, lets first prepare the test environment:
-
From the server computer, restart K-Secure VPN™ Server.
-
From Client B (or AMY-PC), launch K-Secure VPN™ Client and start
the VPN Client service. It is important to make sure the Proxy Agent connects to the server first -
all Proxy Rules are ignored if the corresponding Proxy Agents are not present in the system.
-
From Client A (or JOHN-PC), launch K-Secure VPN™ Client and start
the VPN Client service;
Now that K-Secure VPN™ Server is running with 2 clients connected to it, we shall be able to access
Resource R at 10.2.3.4 from Client A (or JOHN-PC). Now go to
Client A (or JOHN-PC) and follow these steps:
-
Open K-Secure VPN™ Client, click Connections on the left side so you see all the
network connections in real time as shown in the following screenshot.

-
Open up a Windows Explorer window, position it in such a way that you can see both the explorer window
and also K-Secure VPN™ Client on your desktop;
-
From the Explorer window, type \\10.2.3.4 in the address box, as shown below.

-
You shall see the network resources shared by 10.2.3.4 similar to the screenshot below.

-
Take a look at the connections in K-Secure VPN™ Client, you shall see the new connection fired by
Windows Explorer as shown below.

Such proxy connections can also be observed on the server computer. In K-Secure VPN™ Server, click
Connections on the left side you shall be able to see the connection routed through
Client B (or AMY-PC) as shown below.

As you can see from the above screenshot, the connection request originated from
Client A (virtual IP 192.168.1.2)
is correctly routed to Resource R at 10.2.3.4. Underlying this connection, it is the
Proxy Agent running on Client B (or AMY-PC) that does most of the
work.
